The Hamilton converting site is situated parallel to the Kamns paper mill and contains the largest rewinder in the world – XXL which was designed specifically for handling 5.1m reels directly from paper machine 2.
The XXL rewinder has been designed to produce 30,000 tonnes per annum of Luxury Soft toilet tissue at speeds of up to 600m/minute. From the rewinder, the logs pass through high speed double blade log saws and are cut into rolls utilizing the 4 packaging lines that stem from machine. This allows for maximum flexibility and the capability to produce 2 pack to 32 pack formats in both film and bags. The XXL rewinder has the capacity for converting 0.5 million rolls per day!
There are also 7 other converting lines situated at the Hamilton site, capable of producing a combination of soft toilet tissue and kitchen towel products incorporating 4-colour printing, embossing and a variety of pack formats to cover all consumer needs.
In addition to the converting lines there is also a rewinder designed specifically for the facial tissue market.
