LPC Group: Kamns Paper Mill

A purpose built, industry leading tissue manufacturing and converting site. Incorporated on the site are 2 paper machines.

Paper Machine 1

A conventional 2.75 metre crescent former, with a production capacity of 25,000 tonnes per annum. This machine is capable of manufacturing luxury soft toilet tissue and standard kitchen towel.

Paper Machine 2

A conventional 5.4m crescent former incorporating the latest TissueFlex technology with a production capacity of 50,000 tonnes per annum. This machine was specially commissioned for the manufacturing luxury soft toilet tissue though production of absorbent conventional kitchen towel is also possible on this machine.

Advantages of TissueFlex Technology

The PM2 machine based at Kamns Paper Mill was the first of its kind and one of the most advanced mills in the world. Toilet tissue and kitchen towels produced in this mill set new standards in softness, bulk, absorbency and environmental friendliness.

Paper presses have to strike a balance between the dryness and the bulk of the paper. The Andritz TissueFlex press is a major technological advance, as it requires only 50% of the nip pressure of a conventional press at the same linear force. This means that the same level of dryness can be achieved with more bulk. More bulk gives a softer end product, and research has shown that softness is one of the key consumer purchase drivers

In comparison to conventional presses, the TissueFlex press produces paper with two distinct and important absorbency benefits. Firstly, the absorbency capacity is higher than traditional paper, it really will hold more liquid. Secondly, there is a significant gain in the absorbency rate of up to 20%.
