A statement from Executive Chairman , Amin Tejani:

"On behalf of the Shareholders and Board of Directors of LPC Group plc, it is with the deepest regret and sorrow that I have to inform you that Mr. John Danton, our CEO, colleague, and friend, passed away suddenly on 12th May, 2008.

"Since joining the Group in 2002, John played a pivotal role in the transformation of the Group from a wholly UK based manufacturer of tissue products into a major multinational company with a substantial European operation. An achievement he was rightfully very proud of.

"John was a key member of our central management team and worked closely with me and the other Executive Directors to make the Group a trusted supplier to our customers. His unfortunate and unexpected passing is a shock to us all, and our thoughts are very much with his family at this difficult time. I wish to extend them my profound sympathy on behalf of everyone at or connected with LPC. John's professionalism, hard work, kind heart and sense of humour will be sadly missed by all.

"Despite this sad loss, I know John would have wanted us to go on and build on all of the good work he has done over the last six years. The LPC Group will continue to meet the high standards John and the management team has set us, and which our customers and suppliers have come to expect. For the time being John's responsibilities will revert to me and I will deal with all relevant enquiries."
