TC New Top Cat at LPC Group

LPC Group Plc has appointed Tony Camp to the role of Managing Director for UK Operations. The Leicester-based company is the UK’s largest manufacturer of tissue-based hygiene products and world's leading supplier of specialist tissue, with an estimated sales turnover of approximately £200 million. Camp brings with him a solid understanding of the UK FMCG Grocery market, having worked in the sector for almost 30 years. His primary role in the coming months will be to oversee the Group's continuing expansion, with both organic growth and further acquisitions a distinct possibility in the near future.

Camp joins LPC after five years as Managing Director of Leaf UK Ltd, which makes Chewits confectionery. The 49-year-old from London started his career at Cadbury, before moving on to hold various commercial management positions at Premier Foods and then becoming Marketing Director at Burton’s Foods. During his time at Leaf, Camp oversaw the successful transfer of the sales and distribution operations to Bendicks (of Mayfair) Ltd.

This is a good time to be getting involved with the LPC Group, as Camp explains:

“I'm very pleased to be joining LPC at this point as the Group's expansion plans are really something to behold. I think my varied experience of the UK Grocery sector will stand me in good stead for leading the Company forward, and clearly I believe that the paper category in particular is one of the most interesting in the market place. There has been a lot of investment in equipment, infrastructure and the people here in the last few years, and that very progressive approach certainly won't change while I'm at the helm.

“I remember being quite daunted when I first joined Cadbury as a graduate trainee in production management almost 30 years ago, but I have always enjoyed meeting new challenges head-on and this new role will be no different. Having worked with some major FMCG companies, under both Publicly quoted or private equity ownership, I have a lot more experience to draw on compared to back then, but I am just as excited to be getting started and will do everything I can to help LPC continue to succeed in what is a very competitive market place.”

LPC Group continues to invest heavily in developing a state-of-the-art manufacturing base capable of offering technically advanced and high quality bathroom tissue, kitchen towel and facial tissue retailer branded products for both the grocery and 'away from home' sectors. In addition to new and improved facilities in the UK, the Group has rapidly expanded across Europe over the past five years, acquiring operations in Sweden, Belgium and France. Camp's remit will cover the utilisation of this ever-strengthening continental coverage capability, in terms of both innovation and quality, for the benefit of the LPC Group's UK customers and their retailer brands.
