International technology group Andritz has received an order to supply a CrescentFormer tissue machine to Swedish Tissue, a division of leading British tissue manufacturer LPC Group based in Kisa. The order comes with LPC carrying out a widespread expansion programme, and with the company having successfully operated an Andritz PrimeLineTM tissue machine with a shoe press at its Leicester site for over four years.
The new Andritz machine, which will be designated PM3, is designed for the production of special tissue and will share its design concept with LPC's PM2 machine in Leicester. It is characterised by its ability to manufacture a large number of customised tissue grades, which meet the highest quality and performance requirements.
With an annual production of approximately 40,000 tons, the 3.4 m wide machine uses the new Andritz PrimeLineTM tissue machine concept. Comprising a two-layer headbox and a PrimePress XT shoe press with a T-rib Yankee, the new machine also utilises the existing Integral Hood from Andritz Fiber Drying, the former ABB Drying Group. The new machine (PM3) will replace the 2.7 m wide tissue machine currently installed at Kisa. The order also includes Andritz’s proven stock preparation equipment, which will be added to the existing system at Swedish Tissue. The installation will be carried out as part of an ongoing expansion project. Kisa’s PM3 is scheduled for start-up in late 2007.
Amin Tejani, Executive Chairman of the LPC Group says of the Group's latest contract with Andritz: “The whole LPC Group is expanding across Europe and Scandinavia and increasing capacity at Kisa is a priority. Our excellent long-term relationship with Andritz and the success of our PM2 machine in Leicester were two major reasons behind our decision to award this order to Andritz. PM3 will help us to continue to meet the highest quality requirements of our specialised markets, and also open up new opportunities.”
