LPC Group Scoops Gold at CRTG Charity Awards

19/09/2007

The LPC Group, the UK’s largest independent manufacturer of tissue-based hygiene products, has won the Best Own Brand New Product Range Launch Award at the Co-operative Retail Trading Group (CRTG) Awards 2007. The award was presented by Olympic gold medallist Sally Gunnell in recognition of LPC's work to raise quality benchmarks and make the Co-Op's own label tissue range of 29 lines the first to be fully endorsed by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC). This was a great move forward in ethical retailing, as a CRTG spokesperson confirms:

"This range was the first fully FSC accredited household paper range in the United Kingdom. The range saw the delivery of a responsible retailing first and also a huge step change in the quality of our own label product."

The LPC Group supplies many of the country's top retailers with their own label tissue products, and is proud to be leading the way in reducing the paper industry's impact on the environment. The Gold Award was received at a gala dinner hosted by David Messom, CRTG's Director of Trading by LPC Marketing Manager Ray Seagrave, who commented:

"It is challenging to consistently raise standards whilst maintaining product cost competitiveness on shelf. This however, is one of the things we do best as a business and is exactly what buyers demand in today’s competitive retail environment. As the UK’s leading private label paper supplier, we have been providing customers with the highest quality products and services for many years now, and this award recognises all the hard work put in to achieve that. It gives us particular pleasure that retailers are appreciating the investment we are making in their business objectives to ensure our products are as environmentally friendly as they can be. The FSC initiative is vitally important for the future of our industry, and we are proud to be a leading light in its campaign to encourage the responsible management of the world's forests."

Other winners on the night included Coke Zero and Mars Planets. Guests including Vanessa Feltz and Brit Ekland were entertained by comedian and Coronation Street star Bradley Walsh.

As well as two large sites in Leicester, the LPC Group operates across continental Europe. It has recently added to its base in Sweden by acquiring mills in Roanne, France, and Duffel, Belgium. These sites now allow LPC to offer retailers all over Europe the same high levels of product quality and service recently enjoyed by customers in the UK.
